MG 15 Luftwaffe Air-cooled Aircraft Machine Gun and attachments - ON HOLD

Price: £2,200.00 (Excluding VAT at 20%)

Deactivated, and without sights and magazine (can be supplied at extra cost). This gun was universally used by the Luftwaffe in the 2nd WW. This example is marked ST 61 and dated 1.1940. Made by Rheinmetail Borsig it has Waffen eagle stamps and is an early gun, numbered 455. The butt is wooden, and the fore-stock is Bakelite (in undamaged condition). A further marking includes a BAL inspection stamp within a hexagon, hot impressed in the Bakelite. A lot of speculation over the years has been voiced about why some MG 15s were marked ST 61; the most plausible is that they were a commercial export variant, supplied as aircraft guns, though it is known that some were converted to water cooling. I have seen as many ST 61’s and MG 15’s, the vast majority air cooled and coming from Portugal, in turn coming from Romania who were supplied them from Germany. They were famously fitted to the Fieseler Storch (see picture) and the Heinkel 111.

Now being offered with the following attachments, One good magazine, and a pair of original ring and bead sights. (see pictures)

We will only ship this item within the UK, please contact us to place your order.

Deactivated weapons are engineered to UK specs, as discretely as is allowable, but may not meet the specification of foreign governments and so are only available to an UK addressee or collection (preferred) in person. They are also quite heavy and will have to have a wooden crate made if sent by carrier (which can be done at extra cost). All guns come with the original UK Government Proof House deactivation certificate.

Please note that the magazine that may be shown in this photograph is now NOT included in the sale. Please see separate note in our Terms and Conditions.
