Airship Compass – Admiralty type

Dent & Co aerial compass Pilot B. This is a extremely rare early compass probably fitted to flying boats or airships, year of manufacture 1912. Very similar to an early Smith's airship compass, it has the skeleton type card as fitted to the smaller Type 5/17 aerial compasses to alleviate excess swinging when turning quickly, with a flat compass ring viewed through a sighting prismatic attachment. All in excellent condition, though it should be painted a dull black and has been polished by a previous owner. Height about 140 mm diameter of bowl case 160 mm about. Weight: 2.08 Kgs.
