  • Dent & Co aerial compass Pilot B. This is a extremely rare early compass probably fitted to flying boats or airships, year of manufacture 1912. Very similar to an early Smith's airship compass, it has the skeleton type card as fitted to the smaller Type 5/17 aerial compasses to alleviate excess swinging when turning quickly, with a flat compass ring viewed through a sighting prismatic attachment. All in excellent condition, though it should be painted a dull black and has been polished by a previous owner. Height about 140 mm diameter of bowl case 160 mm about. Weight: 2.08 Kgs.

    Airship Compass – Admiralty type

  • This pitot head is for aircraft with a separate static vent (for example fitted at the side of the fuselage), and is just a pressure head. Mounts the same way up as a Spitfire/Hurricane and does the same things, but you would need to fit a separate static vent for the Air Speed Indicator. Seek advice from an avionics or instrument specialist if you are in any doubt, before ordering. Limited stock, all NOS.

  • This is fully overhauled and will be check calibrated before dispatch. It is a non-sensitive British altimeter of the type fitted to all RFC and RNAS military aircraft during the 1914-1918 conflict and indeed afterwards, up to the mid 1930s. We have thoroughly overhauled this instrument and it is in perfect working condition. The dial is rotated and set on zero on take off and it is then hoped than there is little pressure change at the end of the sortie, allowing a fair judgement of the lie of the land and more importantly the home airfield. This example was made by Short and Mason, who made instruments of the highest quality. These altimeters are extremely hard to find today. The pictured example may be a different make or Mk. to the actual model we will be shipping you, but will be identical in all other respects unless we advise you to the contrary. You will be shown a photo of the actual instrument before buying.

  • Star identifier board marked with names of constellations. 2 sides - one for north, one for south The clear plastic plates and white plastic template are contained within a leatherette case. From label with it: Published by the Hydrographic Office Washington in 1942 principally for the use of air navigators. It used the same principle as the original Rude Star Finder patented by Captain G.T. Rude. The instrument is a calculator, identical in principle with an astronomer's astrolabe. Two clear plates are provided for use in different latitudes: one is Latitude 15 degrees south and 15 degrees north whilst the other is marked 42 degrees north and 42 degrees south. We suspect there should be more, but are unsure how many. This rare item 240mm diameter and about 5mm thick, weight 178 Gms. Examples are in the collections of the Maritime Museum at Greenwich and in the Imperial War Museum. Year of manufacture unknown but it will be in the 2nd WW era.
